Malleable Iron Vs Galvanized
Malleable cast iron pipe fittings are crafted from malleable steel. It’s important to note that while Malleable iron steel is a type of malleable cast iron with enhanced toughness, it is not suitable for forging. Both Ma steel pipe fittings and malleable cast iron pipe fittings are named after the material of the pipe, whereas galvanized pipe fittings are named based on their surface treatment.
Difference between black malleable iron pipe fittings and galvanized pipe fittings
Black Malleable steel pipe fittings are made of iron, so they are easy to rust when exposed to air. In particular, our Ma Steel pipe fittings are mainly used for fire fighting and water supply engineering. The pipe fittings are more likely to rust when exposed to a humid environment for a long time. Therefore, the surface of Ma steel pipe fittings needs to be antirust treated. The surface antirust treatment of Masteel pipe fittings is generally divided into hot galvanizing and cold galvanizing. Hot dip galvanizing refers to the galvanizing treatment method of immersing the pipe fittings in a high-temperature molten zinc solution of 700-800 degrees, to cover the surface of the pipe fittings with a layer of zinc. The principle of cold galvanizing, also known as electro galvanizing, is to transfer and attach the zinc hung on the anode to the surface of the pipe hung on the cathode, thus forming a thin and uniform zinc layer.
Galvanized pipe fittings are covered with a layer of zinc, which increases their corrosion protection and helps prevent the accumulation of mineral deposits that will block the pipe. Galvanized pipe is mainly used for carrying water to supply homes and commercial buildings; because of its rust prevention, it may also serve as scaffolding frames.
Galvanized pipe fittings are used for countless outdoor and industrial applications because of the material’s ability to protect against corrosion and salt. Galvanized pipe and fittings may be used in most applications with the exception of underground lines. While they work best with cold water lines, they may be used with hot water as well. The main advantage of using galvanized fittings is their superior rust resistance when compared to black and copper fittings. Galvanized pipe fittings should not be used with gas applications.
Black pipe fittings are used to make connections to black iron pipe. Black iron pipe is also most often used in fire sprinkler systems due to its high heat resistance and for water supply lines due to its resistance to water damage.
Since it has a dark color surface which is formed by iron oxide during the manufacturing process, it is called black steel pipe.
Black steel pipe is uncoated and it is widely used for transporting gas like propane and natural gas to residential and commercial buildings.
